We are still in shock for the barn now seems empty eventhough we have 9 llamas and 6 minature horses which was his pride and joy to guard. In a few weeks we will be looking for another one to replace him. He was 6 years old and still a baby hewie to us. They do make excellent guard dogs for other animals. Comments: What beautiful puppies and parents. We have two Pyr's. Orvis is 7 y.o. and came into our home as a puppy of 8 weeks. Gilly is about 4 or 5 years old - not quite sure as we rescued her from the Animal Shelter. They are both wonderful dogs and are unaware of their size as they both enjoy getting on the furniture(when we're not looking) and sneaking onto the bed in the middle of the night. Makes it interesting to have 2 adults and 2 Pyr's in a Queen size bed. Wouldn't change it for anything.

Comments: I love photography and I love dogs and your website was excellent in both! I met someone who lives on a farm and who raises sheep and says their Great Pyreneese protects their sheep and acts like their mother and the dog is also great with their children. I haven't seen the dog yet but I can now picture why their dog is the King of their farm! The dog sleeps whith the herd and protects it from foxes and other preditors. I can hardly wait to see the dog. Thank you for the great website. I don't have a dog but I have a leash and I regularly borrow neighbor's dogs to go for a run. I have volunteered at the Humane Society for 2 years and took clicker training classes. I can see why these people I met told me to look their breed of dog up on the internet. Very elegant, powerful and protective.

Comments: I had a pyrenees from a rescue society, and he became part of my family. Unfortunately, he had a tumor in his spleen which burst and he died suddenly. He was a measely 75 lbs. when I first got him, but he was a healthy 130 lbs. when he died. I highly recommend this breed, and look forward to owning another pyrenees in the future.

Comments: Your dogs are beautiful! I love mine. She was neglected by her previous owner and I am currently trying to get weight on her. Her undercoat is almost non-existent. She is in poor condition and I have been working with my vet to get her into shape. The previous owner allowed her to get bred during her first heat and she had a litter about 7 weeks ago at around 1 year of age. She looks terrible right now but we are trying to restore her beauty! We also own a Newfoundland that is a big sweetheart too! Love those big dogs! If you have any pointer for helping our Pyr get back to normal let me know.

What would you say are the health concerns that plague this breed (other than the typical big dog maladies such as dysplasia and bloat). In Akitas, auto-immune disorders are getting more and more prevalent as well as allergies. What are you seeing in the Pyrs? Also, what would you say are the biggest detriments to owning a Pyr(from what I've seen thus far---doesn't seem a whole lot different than what we have with Akitas). Comments: They are beautiful pups. I currently have 4 pyrs of my own. 3 are rescues. I will never breed, but I love looking at otheres puppies. In the south it seems that there are too many unwanted dogs...and many rescue pyrs, which is very sad.

Comments: This is an absolutely beautiful website. One of the best that I have ever seen. I own a Great Pyr. puppy that was given to me (but bought at a pet store). I love him dearly, Lambino, but it is obvious that he had been through some rough times. (Personally I never buy from pet shops). After three months he is just now coming to life.
